Born To Fight

Last Thursday, we were takeing my dog, Scooby (pictured), to the park when a grey Pitbull started attacking my dog.

The attack was unprovoked & the Pitbull was only interested in Scooby & not any of us which makes us think that'd it'd been bred to fight.

Luckily Scooby is okay & hasn't got any major injuries & was only really shaken up & frightened.

It just shows that even in quiet towns like mine people are still breeding dogs to fight, this is not on! These dogs are attacking innocent dogs that are being walked on a lead. I blame the owners/breeders for this, if they ditn't keep breeding dogs to fight this type of thing would happen. IT CAN'T KEEP HAPPENING!

I'm sorry this post is a little short but I'm quite busy at the moment.

International Fund for Animal Welfare

I'd like to tell you about IFAW.  They are a organisation that help save animals internationally from seals to elephants to cats and dogs.

What IWAF say about theirselves:

Our vision: Our vision is a world where animals are respected and protected.
Our mission: IFAW rescues and protects animals around the world.
Our promise: We promise supporters and policy makers effective animal protection solutions delivered with intelligence, compassion and integrity.
Our belief: IFAW believes in the intrinsic value of animals and that we have a responsibility to protect them from suffering and commercial exploitation.
Our work: We rescue and care for individual animals and deliver effective solutions for the long-term protection of animal populations and habitats.

We promote addressing animal welfare concerns in policy, legislation and society.
Our team:  Our team includes rescue workers, veterinarians, policy experts, campaigners, scientists, educators and the highest quality support staff all driven by a determination to help animals in need.
Our approach: We are international, with local expertise and leadership in all of our field offices. Through strong international coordination, we leverage regional campaigns and projects to achieve global influence and impact.

Our work connects animal welfare and conversation, demonstrating that healthy populations, naturally sustaining habitats and the welfare of individual animals are intertwined.

We use our hands-on projects on the ground to inform and influence policy.

We are sensitive to the needs of communities and work for solutions that benefit both animals and people.

How you can help & get involved: Go to the IWAF 'Get Involved' page, which you can find here and donate money to the organisation.
You can sign a petition.
And you can just help by raiseing awareness.

I've donated money & I hope you do too :)

Cruelty Free Shampoo & Conditioner

I'm on the search for cruelty free shampoo & conditioner. The problem is I've got a cruelty free shampoo & conditioner but it doesn't help my hair the way I'd like. My hair is oily & gets very oily very quickly & it never goes completely clean, so, I need to try & find a completely cruelty free BUAV approved shampoo & conditioner that also cleans my hair completely.

The mission begins! If you've got any suggestions of shampoo & conditioner you think I should try out, please leave me a comment below!

Our Hotel

We stayed over night at a Premier Inn in Gloucester & it has a Beefeater attached. We're heading further down South today & we're meeting up with my Sister, Katie's best freind's family so there'll be 9 of us in total & we'll be staying there for 1 week.

It's currently 8:50am & we're not leaveing for a few hours so I'll tell you about our journey to get here yesterday:

First of all we went out for breakfast at a Christian cafe in my home town & we all had a full english (mine veggie of course!). We took my Doggy to the kennels & my Hamster to my Grandparent's house then we set off on our 5 hour journey that was supposed to take 3! We were in standstill traffic down the M6 as there had been 2 crashes (I hope everyone was okay), then we got onto the M5 just before Birmingham & shortly after we arrived at nearly 6pm.We went to the Beefeater for tea & then we checked into our room, watched a bit of TV, had a go on our laptops & went to sleep.

I'm going to have to leave it for now as my Mum wants to use the laptop

Testing On Animals

My Dad has just asked me a question do you accept testing things for animals on animals? the simple answer is i don't know. I've never actually thought about it as it has never occurred to me, it's really got me thinking. I mean, is it okay? Would it be more acceptable if human products were tested on humans?

I'm going to think more about this & I'm really interested as to what you all think? Let me know in the comments

Buying A Pet

Sometimes when people decide they want a pet they go straight to a pet shop/a breeder but have you ever thought of going to a rescue center which helps and looks after animals untill they find a new home with good, kind, careing owners.

People often forget that there are animals that live in rescue centers that need a home as they can't stay there forever. Sometimes animals end up there as their owner is maybe too old to care for them properly but that's not always the case, more often that not the reason animals end up in rescue centers because they've been abused & not looked after properly by their owners who they loved, trusted & were loyal too. A few of the animals have been abandoned because of somethink like a disability.

It often saddens me that I can't rescue every animal but there are other people out there that would love the love & company from a animal. I'm not saying don't buy pets from a pet shop or a breeder I'm just asking if you'd consider buying one from a rescue center, it may cost a little more but you'd be saveing a animal & helping it in more ways than you could imagine & your new pet would have more love for you than ever.

Becomeing Vegetarian: My Story

I've been vegetarian on & off since I was about 9 years old. When I was 16 I started eating around the meat so for example I'd maybe order a chicken salad & eat the salad but eat around the chicken & leave it. I was also still eating sweets like Haribo that contain gelatine.

Around Easter Monday of last year (April 2011) I decided I wasn't going to eat any more meat or any more fish & any byproducts. So I stopped strait away & I haven't eaten anythink containing meat/fish since.

I made this decision as I love all animals so much & the thought of eating them made me feel physically sick also when I ate meat/fish & it was juicy I felt as thou it was blood from the animal & I couldn't continue feeling this way as I was feeling more & more guilty by the day. I also don't wear fur/leather.

I try my best every day of my life to help animals as much as I can whether it's donateing money to animal charitys, signing petitions, sponsoring animals (WWF), trying to help stop animal cruelty & I hope to start helping out at local animal rescue centers in the near future & carry that on when I move to the east coast.

Below I'll insert a few links that may be useful to anyone who's thinking of becomeing vegetarian or wanting to go cruelty free. I'll also insert a couple of links if you want to sign a pledge.
